According to the Church tradition some icons are famous for their wonder-working power because of their wonderful finding, or miracles and the healings. Some of them have been found under the wonderful circumstances, some have been written by saints, others are found due to visions and dreams. All these icons are united by the fact that in an inexplicable way they respond to our requests and prayers, rescue us, come to help, when there is nothing left in the human power.

   It is necessary to mention that any icon can be wonder-working if people believe and pray with all their heart.

   The wonder-working icon of "Queen of All" is in Greece on Sacred Mountain Athos near east column of a cathedral temple of Vatopedi monastery. It was painted in ХVІІ century and was a blessing from a well-known elder Joseph The Hesychast to his followers and brothers in Christ.  The story of the memorable monastic elder and this icon still lives in peoples’ hearts. In ХVІІ century a strange person came to the icon of the Mother of God "Queen of All". He was standing in front of the icon and was mumbling something. All of a sudden the face of the Virgin has flashed, like a lightning, and some invisible force has thrown the young man to the earth. As soon as he realized what happened with him he went to confess his sins to the fathers of the monastery. He confessed that he had lived far from God and was engaged in magic and had come to the monastery to try his force on the sacred icons. This wonder-working action of the Virgin has convinced the young man to change his life and to become pious. He was cured from the mental disease and after that he lived with the monks on Athos.

   That was the first miracle when God granted His help to afflicted with demons people through the icon “Queen of All”. Later people noticed that patients with various malignant tumors were healed through this icon. In ХVІІ century a copy of this icon was made for the first time and it has gradually become known all over the world as the icon that helps to cure cancer.

   The name of this icon “Queen of All” tells us about its special, universal force.

   While talking about «wonder-working» of this or that sacred image, it is necessary to pay attention to Christian attitude to miracles. People should stay away from magic although it tries to infect our consciousness. The miracle is made not by an icon, not by a saint man, represented on it but only by God, and only when it is useful for a person. God is merciful and no miracle is done to harm people.

   The Lord doesn't make a miracle when it can violate our free will, to force us to believe in Him. So the Lord warns an asking about healing person: «if you can believe...» (Mk. 9, 23). Miracles are some indulgence to a human infirmity. «Unless you see signs and wonders, you will not believe» (John 4, 48); therefore, admiring a wonder-working icon “Queen of All”, let us once again honor the greatest miracle of all – God’s Providence that saves our souls.
