History of the Youth choir "VISSON"

of the International Public Association "Saints Methodius and Cyril Educational Center"

The Youth choir "Visson" was founded in September, 2010.

The Church-Slavonic word "Visson" means "the precious fine fabric" which is associated with an interweaving of sounds. Also it reflects the structure of the choir as "Visson" is a collective of united performers-instrumentalists (piano, button accordion, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, vocal etc.) and other young professionals. Owing to this feature the choir’s concert programs are often based on the rotation of choral and solo items. Also participants present their own compositions in choir concerts.

The choir’s participants share not only creative tasks but also spiritual aspirations.  Most of the singers serve as choristers and even conductors in the Orthodox parishes of Minsk. Philaret, the Honourable Patriarchal Exarch of all Belarus, the Metropolitan of Minsk and Slutsk, blessed the choir on further creative activity twice – on October 15, 2011 and on February 28, 2014.

Concert programs of the choir include choral scores of different styles and eras, performed in different languages. Most diligently, the choir works in two directions: folk music (compositions and their arrangements of the Belarusian authors) and orthodox singing.

As for today the choir “Visson” has been awarded with a diploma of 3rd degree and a title of laureate at the XII International Festival “Kolozhsky Blagovest” (Grodno, Belarus, 2013), a diploma of 2rd degree and a title of laureate at the XX International Festival “Mahutny Bozha” (Mogilev, Belarus, 2013), with a special diploma “Nadezhda” (“Hope”) at the II Republican creative radio contest called “Young Talents of Belarus” (Minsk, Belarus, 2012), with a diploma of 2rd degree and a title of laureate at the ll Belarusian Festival of National Music “Rekha” (Minsk, Belarus, 2013), a diploma of 3rd degree and a title of laureate at the XXXIII International Festival of Orthodox Church Music “Hajnówka (Belostok, Poland, 2014). “Visson” participates in different projects and festivals, gives solo recitals.
